Music

Children formative experiences of Music at Hatton Park are engaging and pleasurable. The music lesson is a time when pupils are encouraged to be expressive whilst developing fundamental skills in listening and performing, and later, composing. In some activities, pupils learn to respond to music noticing and relating to the mood, whilst in other activities we pay close attention to the theoretical understanding that develops and builds on their understanding of how music works. The school follows the Charanga Music School Scheme. Charanga produces engaging, exciting and innovative digital music teaching and learning resources to support the effective teaching and learning of Music. Pupils are encouraged to perform in assembly regularly, boosting their confidence and self-esteem. Children are also given the opportunity to learn an instrument on a one-to-one basis. These lessons are taught by visiting specialist teachers and paid for by parents.
